Utah Religious Architecture Photograph Collection

The Utah Religious Architecture Photograph Collection displays the history and variety of religious communities in Utah through images of existing and historical houses of worship. While exterior views are predominant, available interior shots are also welcome if they respect the traditions and feelings of the faith community. A feature of this collection is to highlight how buildings are repurposed. Some church buildings are used by different traditions over time, others are now used for secular purposes, and still others were built for secular purposes and are now occupied by religious communities. To submit digital photographs for possible inclusion in this project, please complete the following form. The Marriott Library reserves the right to use only a selection of the photos submitted.

Marriott Library Publishing Agreement for the Utah Religious Architecture Photograph Collection

This Agreement (Agreement) is between the photographer (Photographer) and the University of Utah on behalf of its J. Willard Marriott Library's Library Publishing Program (Marriott Library). Under this Agreement, Photographer grants Marriott Library certain rights in and to the aforementioned photograph(s) for the Utah Religious Architecture Photograph Collection.

Grant of Rights for Inclusion of the Work in Marriott Library Publishing Program

Author hereby grants to Marriott Library the nonexclusive, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable right to reproduce, distribute, display, publish, archive, preserve, digitize, transcribe, translate, provide access and transmit the Work (in whole or in part) for any non-commercial purpose including but not limited to archiving, academic research, and marketing in such tangible and electronic formats as may be in existence now or hereafter developed. Marriott Library may elect, in its sole discretion, not to exercise the rights granted herein.

Marriott Library Publishing Program

Without limiting the foregoing, the rights granted herein include: (1) the right to make the abstract, bibliographic data, and any metadata associated with the Work available to search engines and harvesters; and (2) the right to publish the Work via the Marriott Library's digital library in order to provide the Work greater accessibility and visibility.

Copyright Ownership; Creative Commons Licensing; Deposit with the Library of Congress

Author shall retain copyright in and to the Work and Marriott Library shall provide proper attribution in its exercise of the rights granted herein. Upon Author's request, Marriott Library will provide Author with information regarding Creative Commons copyright licensing.

Representations

Author represents and warrants that:

  1. Author is the copyright holder of the Work and, if applicable, has obtained all necessary rights to permit Marriott Library to exercise the rights granted herein with respect to third party materials contained in any part of the Work. Author agrees to execute and deliver to Marriott Library such other documents as Marriott Library may from time to time reasonably request for the purpose of establishing or evidencing the rights granted herein.
  2. The Work does not violate or infringe the rights of any third party.
  3. Author has full power and authority to make and enter into this Agreement.

Indemnity

Author is solely responsible and will indemnify and hold Marriott Library and/or the University of Utah harmless for any third party claims related to the Work as submitted for publication.

I, the Photographer, have read and I am fully familiar with the contents of this Agreement. I hereby affirm and agree to the above stated provisions. I confirm that I have the right to enter into this Agreement.
